Meet Dr. Robyne Thompson
Dr. Thompson currently is the Superintendent for Oakland Academy of Media and Technology.
Previously, she was the Executive Director of Pupil Services for Utica Community Schools. Dr. Thompson
served as the Superintendent of East Lansing Public schools in East Lansing for three years. She was the also the first female superintendent in East Lansing history. Prior to East Lansing, Dr.
Thompson was Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education in Ann Arbor Public Schools.

Dr. Thompson has over 25 years in public education as both an administrator and a teacher. She
is known for her student advocacy, and launched A.V.I.D. (Advancement Via Individual Determination) in
her previous district. A.V.I.D. is a research-based college readiness system. Dr. Thompson served as the
district director for that program.

Dr. Thompson earned a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Oakland University in Rochester,
Michigan, an Education Specialist from Eastern Michigan University, In Ypsilanti, Michigan in Education
Administration, a teaching certificate in Business Education from Eastern Michigan University, a
Master’s of Science from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and a Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration and Finance from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah,
Oklahoma. She has also done postgraduate work at Harvard University in Women in Leadership.
